Executive Coaching

Space to think. Challenge to grow. Clarity to act.

When you're leading a business, managing significant responsibilities or preparing to step into a more senior role, finding time to think can be one of your biggest challenges.

The demands of the day-to-day job can easily take over. There are decisions to make, people to lead, problems to solve and competing priorities to manage. Yet some of your most important work requires you to stand back, consider the bigger picture and think about what needs to happen next.

Executive coaching gives you that space.

Working with Gill Brabner FCIPD, you'll have dedicated time to explore the challenges and opportunities you're facing, test your thinking, consider different perspectives and identify actions that will make a difference.

The conversations are grounded in your real work. You set the agenda, whether that's developing business strategy, navigating a difficult leadership situation, making an important decision or preparing for the next stage of your career.

Let's talk about your coaching needs.

Senior Leadership Focus

Executive Coaching for Senior Leaders

When you're responsible for leading others, who helps you think?

Senior leadership can be demanding. You're expected to make decisions, provide direction, respond to challenges and keep the organisation moving forward. And often, you're doing all of this while managing a very full diary.

Finding time to think strategically, rather than simply responding to what's immediately in front of you, isn't always easy.

Executive coaching provides dedicated time to step away from the immediate pressures of the job and focus on what really matters.

You might want to:

  • Develop your thinking around business strategy and how to put it into practice.
  • Explore a complex organisational challenge or difficult decision.
  • Consider how you're leading and influencing others.
  • Work through competing priorities and decide where to focus your attention.
  • Prepare for an important conversation or challenging situation.
  • Reflect on your effectiveness as a leader and identify what you want to do differently.

Coaching isn't about someone else telling you what to do. It's about having the time, space and constructive challenge to develop your own thinking and make informed decisions.

Client Testimonial
"A thought-provoking high challenge and high support relationship. The sessions with Gill enabled me to reconnect with my values and beliefs, to identify what is important and reflect and challenge assumptions of others and what drives behaviour. I have reignited my passion for my role and self-belief. Thank you."

Leadership in Practice

Making time for strategic thinking

For one Managing Director in the construction sector, coaching has provided valuable time to focus on strategic thinking away from the demands of a busy operational role.

Our conversations have created space to consider the direction of the business and develop actions to progress its strategy.

It's a good example of how coaching can support leaders who already have considerable experience and expertise but rarely get uninterrupted time to step back and think.

Career Transitions

Coaching for Your Next Leadership Role

Moving into senior leadership changes what is expected of you.

You may have built a successful career as a manager or specialist, developed considerable expertise and earned the respect of your colleagues. But stepping into a senior leadership position brings a different set of challenges.

You're likely to be expected to think more strategically, influence decisions beyond your immediate area of responsibility and contribute to the wider direction of the organisation.

And while your experience has prepared you for much of this, there may be situations you haven't encountered before.

Coaching can help you prepare for that next step and navigate the challenges of your new role.

Thinking strategically

Moving beyond your immediate responsibilities to consider the wider business.

Influencing senior stakeholders

Building credibility, presenting your thinking and challenging constructively.

Making difficult decisions

Developing your judgement when there isn't an obvious right answer.

Leading at a different level

Understanding how your role and relationships need to develop.

Building confidence

Recognising your strengths while identifying areas you want to develop.

Managing the transition

Establishing yourself in a new role and deciding what you want to achieve in your first few months.

Whether you're actively preparing for promotion or have recently stepped into a senior position, coaching gives you an opportunity to work through real challenges and develop your approach to leadership.

A particular focus on HR leadership

For HR professionals preparing for their first Head of HR role, we also offer specialist development through our Head of HR Readiness Diagnostic and scenario-based leadership simulations.

These resources can help you identify the capabilities you need to strengthen and provide practical opportunities to develop evidence of your readiness for a more senior role.

Coaching Philosophy

My Approach to Executive Coaching

Good coaching is about more than having an interesting conversation. It's about making progress.

My approach combines thoughtful questioning with constructive challenge.

I'll ask questions that encourage you to explore your thinking, examine assumptions and consider different perspectives. Sometimes that means helping you look at a familiar situation in a different way. Sometimes it means asking the question that hasn't yet been asked.

But I also believe that what happens across coaching sessions is important.

As we work together, I'll draw connections between our conversations, revisit earlier thinking and help you recognise how your ideas and priorities are developing.

We might identify a recurring pattern, make a connection between two apparently unrelated challenges or revisit an earlier decision in the light of new information.

This continuity helps us build a pathway between where you are now and where you want to be.

And because our conversations are always grounded in your real work, the focus is on identifying actions that you can take forward.

The aim is to leave each session with greater clarity about your thinking, your priorities and what you want to do next.

The Experience

What Can You Expect from Coaching?

Coaching is a conversation with a purpose.

Our starting point is understanding what you want to achieve and what would make coaching valuable for you.

From there, you bring the issues, challenges and opportunities that matter most. These might change from one session to another as circumstances develop.

Some conversations will be about immediate decisions or difficult situations. Others may involve stepping back to consider longer-term goals, business priorities or your development as a leader.

Throughout our work together, you can expect:

01

A confidential space

Time to explore your thinking openly, without the usual demands and interruptions of your working day.

02

Constructive challenge

Questions that help you test assumptions, consider alternatives and develop your thinking.

03

Continuity

Connections between conversations that help you recognise progress and build on previous insights.

04

A focus on action

Opportunities to identify what you want to do differently and how you'll take that forward.

05

An approach that works for you

Coaching conversations shaped by your priorities, circumstances and goals.

No fixed agenda: There is no fixed agenda imposed on you. The work is shaped by what you need, while keeping sight of the outcomes you want to achieve.

Meet Your Coach: Gill Brabner FCIPD

I'm Gill Brabner, Director of Resound Training & Development.

I've spent more than two decades working with organisations, leaders and managers to help people develop the skills, thinking and behaviours they need to be effective at work.

My background in learning and development means I've worked with people facing a wide range of leadership and organisational challenges, from managing difficult conversations and leading teams to influencing senior colleagues and navigating change.

What interests me most is helping people think differently about the situations they face.

I don't believe in giving people ready-made answers to complex problems. I believe in asking good questions, challenging assumptions and helping people make connections that lead to better decisions.

My coaching reflects that approach.

Whether you're leading an established business or preparing for your first senior leadership role, I'll bring experience, thoughtful challenge and a genuine commitment to helping you make progress.
